As part of the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, ICAR–National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms (ICAR-NBAIM), Mau, Uttar Pradesh organized a farmer awareness and extension programme at Ambedkar Nagar village, Pardaha Block, Mau District, Uttar Pradesh, today. The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers regarding the role of beneficial microorganisms in sustainable agriculture and promoting eco-friendly farming practices for improving soil health and crop productivity.

During the programme, scientists and technical staff of ICAR-NBAIM highlighted the importance of agriculturally beneficial microorganisms in enhancing nutrient availability, improving soil fertility, stimulating plant growth, and reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers. The participants were also sensitized about the role of microbial technologies in ensuring environmental sustainability and long-term agricultural productivity.

As part of the extension activity, farmers were provided with Bio-Phos, a microbial bioformulation developed by ICAR-NBAIM. The scientists explained its method of application and benefits in crop production. Bio-Phos contains phosphate-solubilizing microorganisms that help convert insoluble phosphorus present in the soil into forms readily available to plants, thereby improving nutrient-use efficiency and supporting better crop growth.

The programme witnessed active participation from 32 farmers, including 28 male and 4 female farmers. Farmers interacted with the experts and discussed various issues related to soil fertility, crop management, and sustainable agricultural practices.
