ICAR-CCARI, Goa Organises Khet Bachao Abhiyan: Balanced Use of Fertilizers and Sustainable Soil Health Practices

ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa, in collaboration with ATMA North Goa, organized a Training-cum-Awareness Programme on “Khet Bachao Abhiyan: Balanced Use of Fertilizers and Sustainable Soil Health Practices” at the Village Panchayat, Pali, Bicholim Taluka, North Goa, today.

The objectives of the Khet Bachao Abhiyan were explained, with emphasis on the importance of soil test-based fertilizer application, balanced nutrient management, integrated use of organic manures, and natural farming practices for sustaining soil health and enhancing nutrient-use efficiency. The Fertilizer Calculator Goa mobile application developed by ICAR-CCARI was also demonstrated, and its utility in providing scientific fertilizer recommendations to farmers was highlighted.

The participants actively interacted during the session and expressed keen interest in adopting soil test-based nutrient management and sustainable farming practices to improve soil health and crop productivity. The programme served as an effective platform for creating awareness on balanced fertilizer use and promoting environmentally sustainable agricultural practices among farmers.

A total of 32 farmers participated in the programme, comprising 8 male and 24 female farmers.
