Shri Gyanendra Dev Tripathi Visits ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam

Shri Gyanendra Dev Tripathi, Additional Secretary, DARE & Secretary, ICAR, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, visited the ICAR Research Complex for North Eastern Hill (NEH) Region, Umiam, to review the Institute's ongoing research, development, and extension activities. During the visit, a combined interaction and review meeting was held with the scientists, administrative, technical, and finance staff of ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, ICAR–ATARI Zone VII, and ICAR–National Bureau of Plant Genetic Resources.

During the meeting, Shri Tripathi reviewed the Institute's key research programmes and initiatives aimed at addressing the agricultural needs of the North Eastern Hill Region. He appreciated the dedication and commitment of the scientific, administrative, and technical personnel in strengthening agricultural research, technology development, and extension services for the region.

As part of the visit, Shri Tripathi inaugurated the Solar Biomass-Based Hybrid Dryer technology developed by the Institute. The energy-efficient and sustainable technology has been designed to improve the drying of agricultural produce, contributing to enhanced post-harvest management, reduced losses, and greater value addition for farmers.

Shri Tripathi also visited various laboratories of the Institute, where he was briefed on the ongoing research activities across different disciplines and the technologies being developed to address region-specific agricultural challenges.

The visit reaffirmed ICAR's continued commitment to promoting science-led, farmer-centric, and sustainable agricultural development through innovative research and technology for the benefit of the farming community in the North Eastern Hill Region.
