In a landmark achievement for India and the global poultry science community, Dr Jaydip Rokade and Dr Sandeep Saran, scientists of the ICAR–Central Avian Research Institute, Izatnagar, Bareilly, have been conferred the prestigious World's Poultry Science Association (WPSA) Education Award 2026 at the XXVII World's Poultry Congress (WPC-2026) being held in Toronto, Canada during July 13-17, 2026.
The award, carrying a cash prize of US$15,000, recognizes their exceptional and sustained contributions to poultry education, capacity building, innovation, and the advancement of poultry science at the global level.
The recognition marks a historic milestone for India and Asia. Dr Jaydip Rokade and Dr Sandeep Saran have become the first Asian Scientists to receive the coveted WPSA Education Award. Dr Rokade also has the distinction of being the youngest veterinarian recipient in the history of the award. This award highlights the growing global recognition of India's excellence in poultry research and education.
Dr Jaidip Rokade and Dr Sandeep Saran share this prestigious international honour for their outstanding contributions to poultry education, agribusiness management, entrepreneurship development, policy formulation, technology commercialization, and human resource development. Their efforts have significantly strengthened linkages among research, education, extension, and industry, benefiting students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and policymakers, impacting the Indian poultry landscape by bridging the gap between cutting-edge research and grassroots application. The core of their success lies in their unwavering commitment to empowering farmers, rural youth, and women through extensive training and hands-on technical support. Their outreach has been instrumental in fostering entrepreneurship and sustainable livelihoods.
Over the years, the award-winning scientists have pioneered innovative teaching methodologies, digital learning initiatives, entrepreneurship development programmes, industry-oriented training, technology dissemination, and outreach activities. Their collective efforts have empowered thousands of students, poultry farmers, women entrepreneurs, rural youth, researchers, and poultry professionals across India and beyond.
The honour is a matter of immense pride not only for ICAR-CARI but also for the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), the Indian scientific community, and the country as a whole. It further reinforces India's growing leadership in poultry education, research, innovation, and human resource development.
