23 June 2026, Mau, Uttar Pradesh
As part of the nationwide Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026, the ICAR–National Bureau of Agriculturally Important Microorganisms, Mau, organized a farmer awareness and extension programme at Sahroj village in Kopaganj Block, Mau District, Uttar Pradesh, today. The programme focused on creating awareness among farmers about the vital role of beneficial microorganisms in improving soil fertility, enhancing crop productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
During the programme, scientists from ICAR-NBAIM emphasized the importance of integrated nutrient management, regular soil testing, and the adoption of microbial technologies to improve nutrient availability and crop performance. Farmers were informed about the role of beneficial microorganisms in enhancing nutrient-use efficiency, maintaining soil health, and building resilient and sustainable farming systems.

Scientists also demonstrated the application of Bio-NPK, an ICAR-NBAIM-developed microbial biofertilizer containing nitrogen-fixing, phosphate-solubilizing, and potassium-solubilizing microorganisms. The participating farmers were provided with Bio-NPK and educated on its proper use and its benefits in improving nutrient uptake, promoting healthy plant growth, and increasing crop yields.
The programme highlighted the potential of microbial biofertilizers as sustainable agricultural inputs for improving soil health, optimizing nutrient utilization, reducing dependence on chemical fertilizers, and supporting environmentally friendly and climate-resilient agriculture.
A total of 58 farmers, including 38 men and 20 women, participated in the awareness programme.
