ICAR–NAARM, Hyderabad Organizes Pre-Research Advisory Committee Meeting

ICAR–National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad, organized its Pre-Research Advisory Committee (Pre-RAC) Meeting from August 8–11, 2026, under the chairmanship of Dr Devesh Chaturvedi, IAS, Former Secretary, Department of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Government of India, and Chairman, Research Advisory Committee (RAC).

The four-day meeting commenced on August 8 with a welcome address by Dr V. Ramasubramanian, Head, Research Systems Management (RSM) Division and Member Secretary, RAC. This was followed by an overview of the Academy’s activities and research initiatives presented by Dr Raman Meenakshi Sundaram, Director, ICAR–NAARM.

The meeting provided a platform for deliberations on the Academy’s research programmes, priorities and future directions, with a focus on enhancing the relevance and impact of its research and capacity-building initiatives.

In his concluding remarks, Dr Devesh Chaturvedi emphasized the need for ICAR–NAARM to undertake impact studies on Central Sector Schemes, noting that such studies would help demonstrate the Academy’s research capabilities and strengthen its contribution to the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare. He also stressed the importance of strengthening training programmes for scientists on social media and digital technologies to facilitate wider and more effective dissemination of agricultural knowledge among farmers.

Dr Chaturvedi further advised the Academy to expand its training and capacity-building programmes for officials of the Ministry and State Agricultural Universities (SAUs), aligning these programmes with their emerging needs and requirements.

The deliberations during the Pre-RAC meeting are expected to provide strategic direction for strengthening ICAR–NAARM’s research, training and capacity-building initiatives and enhancing their impact on agricultural research and development.
