ICAR-KVK Nimbudera Engages Farmers and Input Dealers in Andaman & Nicobar Islands

ICAR–Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Nimbudera, in collaboration with UTATMA, Department of Agriculture, A & N Administration, organized awareness programmes under “Khet Bachao Abhiyan 2026” today at Santipur village, Swadesh Nagar Gram Panchayat with farmers and at Subhashgram Panchayat with local agricultural input dealers. The programmes aimed to create awareness among farmers and input dealers on sustainable soil management, balanced fertilizer use, and promotion of organic and natural farming practices for improving soil health and productivity.

During the programmes, experts from ICAR–KVK Nimbudera sensitized participants about the judicious and balanced use of fertilizers based on crop requirements and soil nutrient status. Detailed information was provided on the importance of Soil Health Cards and their role in guiding farmers towards efficient nutrient management, improving fertilizer use efficiency, and reducing unnecessary input expenditure. Participants were encouraged to adopt organic and natural farming practices, including the use of organic manures and biofertilizers, to improve soil health, reduce chemical dependency, and promote sustainable agriculture.

A special interaction session was conducted with local input dealers at Subhashgram Panchayat to promote responsible advisory services and ensure the availability of quality agricultural inputs to farmers. The role of input dealers in creating awareness among farmers regarding balanced fertilizer use and sustainable farming practices was also emphasized. The programmes received an encouraging response from participants, who appreciated the initiative and expressed their interest in adopting improved soil management practices for enhancing crop productivity and conserving soil resources. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Dr Jai Sunder, Director (Act.), ICAR–CIARI, Sri Vijayapuram along with other senior officials.

The programmes witnessed active participation from farmers, input dealers, and local representatives.
A total of 38 participants attended the programmes.
