ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune organized a workshop on Gender-Responsive Floricultural Research and Extension to sensitize scientific staff on mainstreaming gender perspectives in research and extension activities.
The workshop reviewed the objectives and timelines of the ICAR Gender Policy, with discussions on innovative approaches to strengthen gender responsiveness in institutional programs. Participants analyzed the roles and participation of women and men in floriculture, emphasizing the need for gender-disaggregated data to guide future strategies.

Detailed presentations on gender-responsive research methodologies were delivered, followed by a hands-on training session on evaluating technologies for gender inclusivity. Existing DFR technologies were assessed using a structured checklist, and the results confirmed that the institute’s innovations are highly gender-friendly, reflecting the progress made in integrating gender considerations into floriculture research.
Dr K.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-DFR, was present during the workshop and personally reviewed the proceedings. The program was coordinated and organized by the Nodal Officers (GRA) of the institute.
This initiative marks a significant step towards embedding gender sensitivity in floriculture research and extension, ensuring that technological advancements benefit all stakeholders equitably.
