Shri Alok Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police, Goa, visited ICAR–Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute, Goa today. During the visit, Dr Parveen Kumar, Director, ICAR–CCARI, briefed the DGP on the Institute's research, development, extension, and capacity-building initiatives aimed at enhancing the sustainability and resilience of coastal agriculture.
The DGP toured the Institute's research farm, field facilities, and soil science laboratory, where he was apprised of various technologies and innovations developed for the coastal ecosystem. He also visited the Integrated Farming System (IFS) units showcasing integrated crop, livestock, fisheries, and horticultural enterprises designed to improve resource-use efficiency, farm profitability, and sustainability.

As part of the visit, Shri Alok Kumar inspected the Biomass Recycling Unit, Biogas Unit, and Phosphate Rich Organic Manure (PROM) Production Unit, where innovative technologies for recycling farm and organic wastes into valuable agricultural inputs were demonstrated. He also visited the Animal Science Unit, Fodder Cafeteria, and Poultry and Hatchery Unit, which showcased integrated livestock-based farming practices, diverse fodder resources, and resource-efficient production systems.

The DGP further visited the Institute's Agricultural Eco-Tourism (AET) Facility, Astrologically Significant Navagraha–Rashi–Nakshatra Vatika, Bambusetum, and various natural resource management structures, including rainwater harvesting and water conservation facilities. He was also informed about the Institute's extensive outreach and capacity-building programmes that train thousands of farmers, students, entrepreneurs, researchers, and other stakeholders annually on sustainable agricultural practices and emerging technologies.
Appreciating the Institute's multidisciplinary research and development efforts, Shri Alok Kumar commended ICAR–CCARI for its innovative technologies, sustainable farming practices, and well-maintained research and demonstration facilities that serve as valuable learning platforms for farmers, students, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders.
