ICAR–Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi successfully organized a five-day Module-II Training Programme for newly recruited Assistants from 10 to 14 August 2026. The programme was aimed at enhancing the knowledge, skills and professional competence of Assistants and familiarizing them with the administrative framework and functioning of the ICAR system.
A total of 23 Assistants participated in the training programme, including eight Assistants selected through the Reserve Panel of the Combined Assistant Grade Examination (CAGE)-2022, four through Inter-Institutional Transfer and 11 through the Reallocation process of ICAR.
The training covered a wide range of subjects relevant to the official responsibilities of Assistants, including office procedures, service matters, financial and administrative rules, e-Governance and ICT tools, vigilance, procurement, public grievance redressal and other aspects of the administrative functioning of ICAR.
During the five-day programme, a total of 23 lectures were delivered by experienced officers and subject experts. Eight resource persons from ICAR-IARI delivered 11 lectures, including two lectures by the Director, ICAR-IARI, while 12 resource persons from ICAR Headquarters and the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board (ASRB) delivered 12 lectures.
The resource persons, many of whom have extensive experience in policy formulation, implementation and decision-making at the Council level, provided the trainees with valuable practical insights into the functioning of various components of ICAR.

The programme primarily utilized resource persons from ICAR Headquarters and Delhi-based ICAR Institutes, including ASRB. This approach enabled the Institute to leverage the expertise of senior officers while minimizing expenditure on travel and related logistics. It was also in consonance with the Council’s emphasis on economy measures and expenditure rationalization, while ensuring quality training for the participants.
The trainees participated actively in the lectures and discussion sessions and interacted with the resource persons to clarify their queries and understand the practical application of various rules and procedures. The interaction with senior officers from ICAR-IARI, ICAR Headquarters and ASRB helped broaden the participants’ understanding of the ICAR system and their professional responsibilities.
An assessment test was conducted at the conclusion of the programme to evaluate the knowledge and understanding gained by the participants. All 23 participants successfully cleared the assessment test. Feedback was also obtained from the participants to assess their experience and gather suggestions for further improving such training programmes.
Overall, the Module-II Training Programme for Assistants was successfully completed and proved informative, interactive and beneficial for the participants. The programme provided an effective platform for knowledge enhancement, professional development and interaction with experienced officers. The successful completion of the assessment test by all participants and the feedback received indicated that the objectives of the programme were satisfactorily achieved.
The programme is expected to contribute towards enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness and professional competence of the participating Assistants and support the effective functioning of the ICAR system.
