ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram, launched the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign 2026 on 17 September 2026 under the theme ‘Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit Bharat.’
As part of the campaign launch, banners highlighting the theme and objectives of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 were displayed at prominent locations across the Institute, including the Rootscape Arena, reception area and main entrance. Campaign messages were also showcased on the digital display board near the reception area.
The programme commenced with the Swachhata Pledge, administered by Dr G. Byju, Director, ICAR-CTCRI, in the presence of staff members, students, research scholars, contractual personnel and housekeeping staff.
Dr P. Murugesan, Chairman, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Institute Committee, welcomed the participants and briefed them on the Ministry and ICAR guidelines, along with the theme and objectives of the campaign. Shri B. T. Hareesh, Member Secretary, Swachhata Committee, outlined the activities scheduled for various dates during the campaign.
Following the pledge ceremony, a Swachhata Hi Seva selfie point installed near the sales counter was inaugurated by the Director. The initiative encouraged participants to engage with the campaign and spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness and collective participation.
Addressing the participants, Dr Byju emphasised the significance of Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 and called for active participation in promoting cleanliness and maintaining a clean and hygienic institutional environment.
The first-day programme witnessed the participation of 120 staff members, students, research scholars, contractual personnel and housekeeping staff.
