A Silver Jubilee National Seminar on “Present Status and Future Strategies for Processing and Value Addition of Agricultural Commodities’ was inaugurated at ICAR-Central Institute of Post-Harvest Engineering and Technology (ICAR-CIPHET), Ludhiana here today.
Dr. Gurbachan Singh, Chairman, ASRB was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Singh emphasized the need to maintain and enhance soil and water quality to produce good quality crops suitable for processing. While elaborating the success of food production in India, he added, food saved is food processed.
Dr. R. K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-CIPHET welcomed dignitaries, farmers, entrepreneurs and SHG members during inaugural session and highlighted the contributions of this Institute during last 25 years in the food processing sector.
Dr K Algusundaram, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Engineering), ICAR chaired the Inaugural Session. Dignitaries on the dais released the national seminar souvenir, other publications and potato peeler technology on this occasion.
Dr B S Dhillon, Vice-Chancellor, PAU, Ludhiana, Dr Anwar Alam, Ex VC, SKUAST, Srinagar, Dr. Nawab Ali, Ex-DDG (Engg), Dr. S. M. Ilyas, Ex-Director, CIPHET and Project Director NIRD, Hyderabad graced the occasion as Guests of Honour.
On this occasion, various SHGs, entrepreneurs and NGOs also participated and displayed their value added products based on institute technologies. Participants, researchers and entrepreneurs from different parts of the country are participating in this two-day national seminar which is sponsored by MOFPI, New Delhi.
