DG, ICAR Laid Foundation Stone of Training cum Farmers’ Hostel at ICAR-NIVEDI

Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary, DARE and Director General, ICAR visited ICAR-National Institute of Veterinary Epidemiology and Disease Informatics, Bengaluru and laid the Foundation Stone of Training cum Farmers’ Hostel here today.

In his address, Dr. Mohapatra urged scientists to carry out the research in key areas for augmenting the livelihood and welfare of the farmers. He further emphasized that the young scientists should have open mind to work towards the goal in a multidisciplinary team so as to contribute to the country either in the form of cost saving technologies or scientific advancements.

He congratulated the recipients of prestigious DBT-Biotech Product and Process Development and Commercialization Award 2016 for developing an innovative diagnostics technology for serosurveillance of brucellosis in India. Further, he commended the functioning of the "state of art BSL facility" at the Institute.

Director General released the first issue of "Pashu Prahari", the Rajbhasha magazine of the Institute.

Dr. H. Rahman, DDG (Animal Science) congratulated the awardees for the achievement and appreciated the efforts of the Scientists of ICAR-NIVEDI.

Dr. B. R. Shome, Director (Acting), ICAR-NIVEDI, briefed the dignitaries about the journey of AICRP_ADMAS to ICAR-NIVEDI and appraised the dignitaries about the research and extension activities of the Institute during the interaction.

The dignitaries visited various facilities of ICAR-NIVEDI including BSL-2 ++ laboratory and also planted saplings to mark the occasion.

Directors and senior officials of the ICAR institutes located at Bengaluru also graced the occasion.
