The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Ludhiana, Punjab virtually organized the “Annual Review and Concluding Workshop of Technology Demonstration Component of NICRA” today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR outlined the selection of Districts based on the risk and vulnerability for the next phase. The DDG emphasized on documentation of the successful technologies for showcasing at the National platforms.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. J.P. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST, Jammu underlined the current climate change scenario in the country. He also stressed on the need for resilient technologies.
Dr. S. Baskar, ADG (AAF&CC), ICAR highlighted the initiation of the TDC Programme and the development of cluster villages. He accentuated on the up-scaling of technologies with convergence.
Dr. A.K. Mehta, Former ADG & Chairman, ZMC highlighted the current climate change situation in the country and the action plan to be focused by considering all the problems faced by the farmers.
Dr. V.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad accentuated on the approaches to be adopted in the next phase of TDC by demonstrating the climate resilient technologies on farming system typologies considering all important crops grown, resources available, constraints, resilience of various system and for minimizing the risk.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. Rajbir Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Ludhiana, emphasized on the approaches for developing the climate resilient villages by the scaling-up of proven practices.
Around 13 Krishi Vigyan Kendras presented the reports and 8 Districts presented technical programme for the next phase of NICRA-TDC during the occasion.
