Virtual Awareness Programme on “Honey Bee Farming” organized

The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune and Shri Siddhagiri Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kaneri, Kolhapur, Maharashtra jointly organized a Virtual Awareness Programme on “Honey Bee Farming” on the occasion of World Bee Day today.

“The farmers should develop themselves as Honey Bee Entrepreneurs to secure supplemented income other than farming”, emphasized the Chief Guest of the occasion, Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune. Dr. Singh stressed on developing entrepreneurs in a cluster mode for actual realization of the potential Honey Bee Entrepreneurs. He also urged the KVKs for working to help the rural women in earning livelihood.

The Special Guest, Shri Y.K. Baramatikar, Joint C.E.O., KVIC, Mumbai highlighted the KVIC’s efforts in Honey Bee Cluster Development. Shri Baramatikar also underlined the innovative methods of Honey Bee farming of the various farmers and organizations.

Shri B.V. Apoorva, Director, Honey Day Bee Farm Pvt. Ltd., Bengaluru delivered a Lecture on “Importance of Scientific Beekeeping and different initiatives in Honey Bee Sector”.

Shri Biswajeet Singh, C.E.O, Udyam Ventures Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi outlined the different entrepreneurship development ideas and prospects in Honey Bee sector.

Dr. Ravindra Singh, Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kaneri urged the farmers for adopting Honey Bee farming to enhance their income.

The programme registered a total participation by 70 farmers and entrepreneurs.
