Soil Health is Primary Concern

Soil is a valuable asset for farmers and it is necessary to make it in healthy form. Fulfilling this requirement location specific organic farming, soil health and mixed farming should be considered for more productivity. These are the views expressed in consultation meeting on Organic farming. This consultation meeting was held at National Agriculture science complex, ICAR, New Delhi.

In his Presidential remarks Dr. S. Ayyappan, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education (DARE) and Director General, ICAR said that soil health is a primary concern for scientist. They may come out with innovative techniques on organic farming but these techniques should give long term results. He stressed that everyone should know the benefits of organic farming so that they can spread its valuable importance to others. Beside this, areas should be identified where, organic farming can be helpful.

Distinguished participants expressed their views on different aspects of Organic farming during the consultation for prioritizations of issues.
