The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar celebrated its 22nd Foundation Day today.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna, Bihar accentuated on the need for enhancing the farmers’ income through the adoption of new technologies. The nutrient management in crops and animals for enhancing the productivity was highlighted by Dr. Singh.
Dr. Suresh Kumar Chaudhari, Deputy Director General (Natural Resource Management), ICAR stressed on the optimum management of the natural resources, especially, the land and water. The capacity building of the farmers, enhancing the Eastern Region’s farmers’ livelihood and income was also emphasized by the DDG.
Delivering the Foundation Day Lecture, Dr. Trilok Nath Singh, Director, IIT, Patna, Bihar outlined the challenges for the scientific community on feeding the increasing population and conservation of the degrading natural resources like soil & water and doubling the farmers’ income. The need for enhancing the soil productivity and water use efficiency was also highlighted in Dr. Singh’s Lecture.
Earlier, welcoming the dignitaries, Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna underlined the Institute’s achievements in terms of the various agricultural, horticultural, livestock and fishery technologies.
