Showcasing of Agricultural Technologies and Media Meet Organized at CISH

Central Institute for Subtropical Horticulture (CISH), Lucknow organized a one-day Showcasing of Agricultural Technologies and Media Meet with a focus on “Enhancing mango productivity and quality” in the ensuing mango season on 30 March, 2013. This programme was organized under the aegis of NAIP sub project ‘Mobilizing mass media support for sharing agro-information’.

While delivering his address as Chief Guest, Dr. D.S. Rathore, ex-VC, CSK Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur highlighted the importance of making farmers groups/associations to enhance profitability through marketing.

The programme was presided over by Dr. Rameshwar Singh, Project Director, DKMA, ICAR, New Delhi. In his Presidential Address, Dr. Singh highlighted the role of agricultural journalism in rural development. He also emphasized upon the importance of dissemination of information about the developmental schemes among the farmers. Dr. Singh also asked the gathering to visit official ICAR page on the Facebook for interaction with ICAR scientists and authorities.

Earlier, Dr. H. Ravishankar, Director, CISH welcomed the dignitaries and urged farmers to adopt Institute’s technologies for quality production of mango in the coming season.

A Kisan Gosthi was also organized on the occasion wherein eminent scientists, experts and stakeholders interacted and discussed the issues pertaining to explore ways and means of augmenting quantity and quality of mango production in the coming season. The event also witnessed, an exhibition organized for showcasing the improved agricultural technologies, inputs, products by different government/non-government organizations, agro-input suppliers. A large number of progressive farmers, media persons, scientists and senior officials of CISH participated in the programme.
