Shri Sushil Kumar, I.A.S., Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) visited the ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology, Mumbai today.
Shri Kumar applauded the Institute’s progress and the linkages established with the industrial stakeholders. He also urged for focusing on the frontier areas of research. During the visit, Shri Kumar opined the scientists to collaborate with the associated professional organizations like FICCI & CII; research organizations like TIFR, BARC, Mumbai University, etc., and explore the possibility to bring more research and development fund for strengthening the research facilities. Shri Kumar also reviewed the Institute’s administrative and financial matters.
Shri Sushil Kumar visited the Research Laboratories and Nanocellulose Pilot Plant facility. Earlier, on 30th April, 2019, Shri Sushil Kumar also flagged-off a team of Jalmitra from the institute for “Mahashramdaan Programme” of Paani Foundation to build the water conservation structures for the ground water recharge in the drought prone village of Sawarde in Sangli District on 1st May.
Dr. J.P. Mishra, ADG (ICT) opined for making the effective use of Information and Communication Technology for improving the functioning of the system.
Dr. P.G. Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT highlighted the institute’s activities underlining the major achievements in the research, skill development activities, Business incubation and commercial services.
The two publications on incubation programmes under CIRCOT-R-ABI were released during the occasion.
The occasion also marked the inauguration of website of the CIRCOT RKVY-RAFTAAR Agri Business Incubator.
