Zonal Workshop of KVKs under Zone IX organized

25th Zonal Workshop of KVKs of Zone IX comprising of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh was organized at Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh today.

Shri Faggan Singh Kulaste, Member of Parliament and Former Minister of State, Health and Family Welfare, Government of  India, in his inagural address, appreciated the works done by KVKs for speedy progress of agriculture in the state along with tribal region too. He emphesised that farmers income could be doubled by proper production plan coupled with marketing stratergy also there is need to reduce the cost of cultivation, so that farmers income could be enhanced. He said there is need to make farmers more aware and knowldgeable on the newly develoved technology along with proper skill for its better application.

Shri Susheel Kumar Tiwari, MLA, Panager Constituency, in his address, said water use efficiency should be improved, so that farmers can protect there crops during the drought period and take the crop successfully during succedding seson. He urged that marketing and weather information should be timely supplied to the farmers for realizing proper price of the produce.

Dr. D. K. Marothia, Memer of Planning commission, Chhattisgarh also emphisised that farmers should be trained to the adopt the technology suitable for farms according to their resource base, so that they can get sufficient income.

 Dr. V. P. Chahal, ADG briefed about the new initiatives of ICAR in the form of NARI, VATICA, KSHAMTA etc. for empoverment of womens and tribal farmers. 

Dr. S. K. Patil, VC, IGKV, Raipur has urged the farmers to practice integrated farming and inter-cropping with proper technological blending, so that risk could be minimized and income could be ensured.

Dr. P. D. Juyal, VC, NDVSU, Jabalpur point out that animal component is the integral part of profitable agriculture. Shri Abhay Mahajan, Organizing Seceratery, DRI, New Delhi addressed the delegates.

Dr. Anupam Mishra, Director ICAR-ATARI, Jabalpur addressed to the participants and enumerated siginificant achivement of the Zone IX, KVKs on the basis of which KVKs recieved best national KVK award from ICAR and other agencies. He further informed that KVKs are focussing mainly on doubling farm income, nutrition sensitive agriculture through nutri-SMART villages, climate resilent technologies, marketing through SHGs and FPOs.

During validictory session Cheif Guest Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG, ICAR- New Delhi in his addreesed appriciated the kind of preparedness and showcasing of KVKs in technical session and exhibition shows high level of commitment. He further admired the kind of innovation presented by farm innovators is unparallel. He further pointed out that Zone IX taking lots of initiatives for improving the agriculture condition even in rainfed areas.

Professor P.K. Bisen, VC, JNKVV, Jabalpur during his address pointed out that KVK is an unique arrangement of ICAR at district level and is the important vehicle for speedy growth of agriculture in the region by providing proper technological support to the farmers.  

On the occasion 6 mobile Apps – by KVK Gariyaband, Dindori, Damoh, Ujjain, Jabalpur, ATARI were launched and publication Farm Innovators by ATARI Jabalpur and Dairy Development by NDVSU Jabalpur was released.

Exhibition was also laid out by KVKs during three days workshop.
