The Zonal Monitoring Committee of ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Jabalpur under the NICRA Project visited the three Krishi Vigyan Kendras - Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur and Satna in Madhya Pradesh from 19th to 21st December, 2019. The team was led by Dr. N. Sudhakar, Former Director, ICAR-ATARI, Hyderabad.
At the Krishi Vigyan Kendra Tikamgarh, Dr. R.K. Prajapati, SMS & Co-PI, NICRA presented the technical progress in all the modules along with the project’s impact on the farming community.
The ZMC visited the NICRA Village - Kanti along with the KVK’s scientists to review the work done under the NRM, crop and fodder production, use of slurry for vegetable production, Biogas Plant and Nutrition Garden interacted with the NICRA Village’s farmers.
At the KVK, Chhatarpur, the ZMC visited NICRA adopted Villages - Sigravana Kala & Choukhda to monitor the various interventions implemented.
Dr. V.P. Shrivastava (SS&H) outlined the activities in the NICRA village carried out by the KVKs. The committee reviewed the work done under the limited irrigation Wheat Variety - JW 3288, farm pond through the inter department of convergence, livestock component and floriculture.
At the KVK, Satna, Dr. R.S. Negi (SS&H) underlined the module-wise progress and activities of the NICRA Village by KVK before the ZMC. The main focus of the intervention was the Wheat Variety - JS 3288, breed up-gradation by Murrah buffalo, seed bank, nutri-gardens, fruit plants using pitcher method of irrigation, farm pond, recharge of wells and goatary, etc. The committee suggested for incorporating & promoting the activities of organic farming also at the NICRA village.
The Committee provided the valuable suggestions for the further improvement and refinement of the technologies as per the local needs.
