Krishi Vigyan Kendra, ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow in association with Indian Society of Soil Science, Lucknow chapter organized “World Soil Day” today.
Dr. D.K. Sharma, Ex-Director, ICAR-CSSRI, Karnal, Chief Guest of the event urged to enhance the organic carbon content of soils for improving its structure, enrichment of plant nutrients, other micro-biological properties of soils for enhanced field crops production without degrading our soils and environment.
Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director, ICAR-IISR, Lucknow briefed the salient achievements of the Institute and highlighted the work being done by the Institute with a sugar factory in U.P. for doubling the income of farmers by 2022. Dr. Pathak also stressed the need for improving the health of soil through various package of practices for enhancing field crops production without impairing the fertility of soil.
On this occasion, soil health cards after soil samples’ analysis done at KVK, ICAR-IISR, Lucknow were distributed to the farmers. A Souvenir was also released on this occasion.
This programme was attended by about 300 farmers of Lucknow and Sitapur districts and 150 other delegates involving Scientists and State Govt. functionaries of the Uttar Pradesh.
