ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Dehradun celebrated “World Soil Day” here today.
Sh. Satpal Ji Maharaj, Cabinet Minister to the Govt. of Uttarakhand graced the occasion as Chief Guest. In his address, he urged the farmers to make proper application of the card. He also spoke about Super Food and Protein Revolution and urged the institute to make efforts in this direction. He administrated oath on ‘Save Soil Campaign’to the participants of the event and distributed two hundred fifty Soil Health Cards to the farmers.
ShriHarbans Kapoor, MLA indicated the importance of utilizing improved farm techniques for increasing farmer’s income and highlighted the great role which the Institute has to play in achieving it.
Dr. S.C. Gairola, DG, ICFRE, spoke about integration of soil and forest and developing strategies to improve forest productivity through soil testing.
Sh. Prabhu Lal Sharma, Gram Pradhan, Hattal expressed his deep gratitude for effort of the Institute in improving the status of farmers in his village.
Dr. N.K. Sharma, I/C Director, ICAR-IISWC briefed the gathering about Institute works and efforts towards soil and water conservation and long relationship of the Institute with the farmers.
