“The role of women in the empowerment of the society is indispensable”, said Smt. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women. Smt. Sharma was delivering the Lecture on “Women in Leadership Role in India” organized by the Education Division of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi here today.

The Council has organized a Series of Lectures as a part of the “Bharat Ka Amrut Mahotsav” to commemorate 75 Years of India’s Independence.

The various roles performed by the women in every sphere of the human society ranging from taking care of their households, upbringing their families to confronting and safeguarding the borders of the country, heading the top most positions in the different Ministries of the Government of India, etc., were applauded by her. She also stressed on the need for empowering the female farmers more and making them aware about their fundamental rights & the Government Policies that are beneficial for them.

Smt. Rekha urged the girls from the rural areas to study harder & score well and reap the benefits of the various Plans and Schemes that are being introduced by the Government of India.

Dr. R.C. Agrawal, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Education), ICAR introduced the Speaker and briefed about the objective of the Lecture Series.
