The ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh organized the Webshop on “All India Fodder Production Officers: Kharif” from 23rd to 26th June, 2020.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR highlighted the need for popularizing the forage technologies to enhance the farmers’ income and livestock’s productivity. He urged for focusing on the seed / planting material production of the forage crops and range grasses along with the challenges in fodder production during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Dr. V.K. Yadav, Director, ICAR-Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh accentuated on the various new initiatives being taken for augmenting the fodder resources in the country.
The main objective of the workshop organized as a part of the National Initiative for Accelerating Fodder Technology Adoption (NIAFTA) was to disseminate the advances in the fodder production and conservation technologies of Kharif fodder crops.
More than 180 participants from State Agricultural Universities, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, State Government Departments (Agriculture and Animal Husbandry), Forest Departments and NGOs officials participated in the Webshop.
