Virtual Training Programme on High-Tech Cultivation of Vegetables and Grafting in Vegetables (Dutch Technology) organized

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramati, Maharashtra and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra jointly organized a Virtual Training Programme on “Hi-Tech Cultivation of Vegetables & Grafting in Vegetables (Dutch Technology)” today.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune, Maharashtra applauded the activities of Centre of Excellence for Vegetables at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramati, Maharashtra. He stated about the grafting technology that is used in preparing the high-quality seedlings makes them disease-tolerant and high yielding. He also highlighted about the supply of 45 Lakhs grafted and non-grafted quality vegetable seedlings to farmers; export of 350 MT vegetables (Okra, Chilli, Bottle Gourd, Cluster Bean and Butternut) and collaboration with 9,000 farmers through FPOs / FPCs linkages by the Centre.
Dr. R.S. Jadhav, Head, KVK, Baramati, Maharashtra shared the experiences of successful entrepreneurs about high-tech vegetable cultivation.
In his Lecture on “Greenhouse Cultivation System from Low to High-Tech”, Shri Niek Botden, from HollandDoor Cooperative U.A., The Netherlands stressed on the importance of climate management, fertigation management and pest management during the crop production. He emphasized on producing more with less by using innovative technology, production knowledge and effective value-chain concepts.
The programme registered a total participation by 49 Subject Matter Specialists (Horticulture) representing 36 KVKs of Maharashtra, 12 of Gujarat and 1 from Goa.
