Virtual Rabi Kisan Mela organized by KVK, Jalna - 1

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Jalna - 1, Maharashtra organized the "Virtual Rabi Kisan Mela and 279th Monthly Seminar of Krishi Vigyan Mandal" today.
The Chief Guest, Dr. R.B. Deshmukh, Former Vice-Chancellor, Mahatma Phule Krishi Vidyapeeth, Rahuri, Maharashtra applauded the KVK, Jalna and ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra's innovative works, especially, in popularizing the pulses production technologies through frontline demonstrations in the zone. He also highlighted the scope and importance of chickpea, latest varieties, suitability of varieties in different agro-climatic conditions, etc.
Shri Vijay Borade, Trustee, MSSM & Project Director, KVK, Jalna - I, Maharashtra appreciated the efforts of Wheat Research Station, Niphad for its contribution in developing the rust-tolerant, drought-tolerant and heat-tolerant varieties of wheat for Maharashtra.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune, Maharashtra urged the KVK for maintaining the consistency and commitment of Krishi Vigyan Mandal activity which is a unique example of extension mechanism with farmers' initiative. He also mentioned doubling the farmers' income, intercropping of pulses with cotton, etc., being implemented by the KVK in a convergence mode.
Stressing on utilizing the quality seed and planting materials, Dr. S.V. Sonune, Head, KVK, Jalna - I, Maharashtra outlined the availability of 45 q of Foundation Seed and 100 q Certified Seed of Chickpea under Pulses Seed Hub for the farmers.
More than 200 farmers participated in the virtual Rabi Kisan Mela.
