The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Osmanabad, Maharashtra organized the “Farmers Fair for Planning Kharif Crops” today.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Ashok Dhawan, Vice-Chancellor, Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, Maharashtra urged the farmers for cultivating the Soybean in summer season for seed purpose. He also emphasized on the importance of seed germination tests. Dr. Dhawan briefed about the use of liquid bio-fertilizer for maximizing the production with optimum use of chemical fertilizers.
Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Pune, Maharashtra apprised the farmers of Osmanabad District about the quality seed production of oilseed and pulse crops. He encouraged the rural youths to take-up non-farm enterprises along with farming for achieving ensured income. He stressed on promoting the BDN-711 and BDN-716 of Pigeon Pea in the area.
Dr. D.B. Deosarkar, Director (Extension Education), Vasantrao Naik Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani, Maharashtra advised the farmers for adopting the crop production technologies of Kharif crops like use of improved varieties according to the soil type, seed treatment, BBF technology and inter-cropping of Soybean and Pigeon Pea.
A total of 101 farmers virtually participated in the Kharif Season Mela.
