The ICAR-National Research Centre for Banana, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu in association with the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad organized the three-day Virtual Capacity Development Programme on “Agri-Preneurship through Banana-based Technologies - An Avenue for Aatma Nirbhar Bharat” from 15th to 17th June, 2022.
In her inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. S. Uma, Director, ICAR-NRC for Banana, Tiruchirappalli underlined the various technologies developed and Entrepreneurial opportunities available with Centre. She urged the trainees to start their own business venture using the expertise available with the Centre and MANAGE.
Dr. C. Karpagam, Principal Scientist (Agricultural Extension), NRC for Banana Tiruchirappalli & Course Director stated that the horticultural crops, especially, Banana requires a different extension approach. The approach may be the paradigm shift from production extension to market let extension, individual extension to the group let extension, cultivation technologies to export technologies, training to the capacity development programme and Coordination to the convergence of Institutions, etc.
Dr. Sagar Surendra Deshmukh, Training Associate, MANAGE, Hyderabad highlighted the role of MANAGE in facilitating the business Start-Ups.
Earlier, Dr. A. Mohanasundaram, Senior Scientist, NRC on Banana apprised the participants about the main objective of the programme.
The programme was aimed at promoting the Entrepreneurship and Business Ventures in Banana Cultivation, providing capacity building through technological backstopping, facilitating the innovative business solutions in the untouched areas of Banana Cultivation and as the follow-up linkage mechanism between the ICAR-NRC for Banana and the trainees.
More than 100 participants from various States participated in the programme.
