The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Zone - VI, Guwahati organized the “Virtual 4th Annual Zonal Workshop for the KVKs of Zone - VI spread across the States of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh & Sikkim” from 22nd to 24th July, 2021.
In his address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR emphasized on prioritizing some enterprises and expanding them widely under the ARYA (Attracting Rural Youths in Agriculture) to all the Krishi Vigyan Kendras. Dr. Singh stressed on sustainable / conservation agricultural practices by focusing on the organic farming and zero budget agriculture. He also urged for identifying the minor Millet which is feasible in the state and should go for nutri-cereals through NARI and KSHMATA.
Dr. Bidyut. C. Deka, Vice-Chancellor, Assam Agricultural University, Assam accentuated on mainstreaming the different ITKs, popularizing the nutri-cereals and widely expanding the different Entrepreneurship Development Flagship Programmes like ARYA.
In his valedictory address, Dr. R. Singh, ADG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR accentuated on the agro-ecological problems and issues faced by the farmers and their feedbacks and solutions accordingly. He also urged for maintaining the same in a database, ODOP, etc., and giving importance to the two-way communication by utilizing the portals like Digital India, Kisan Sarathi, etc.
Dr. Prasanna Pathak, Director of Extension Education, Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat, Assam urged the KVKs to share their issues and difficulties.
Dr. V.K. Gupta, Director, ICAR-National Research Centre on Pig, Rani, Guwahati, Assam recommended the KVKs for enhancing the agriculture productivity and adopting the improved technologies for doubling the farmers’ income.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Dr. A.K. Tripathi, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Zone - VI, Guwahati, Assam outlined the salient achievements of the Zone and the involvement of ICAR-ATARI, Guwahati and 45 KVKs in the various flagship programmes.
The ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute, Guwahati’s 4 Publications were released during the occasion.
