Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra , Secretary (DARE) & Director General (ICAR) inaugurated KRUSHIK – Live Demo and Agri Expo 2018 organized by Agricultural Development Trust’s Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Baramati here today.
Dr. Mohapatra briefed the farmers about role of KVKs in implementing different schemes of agricultural department like doubling the farmers’ income up to year 2022. He also appreciated the 25 years’ work of KVK Baramati towards farming community. He said the KVK Baramati model should be replicated among other KVKs across the country. He also urged to focus on Mobile advisory.
Shri Sharad Pawar, Member of Parliament (Rajyasabha) briefed about various ICAR research institutes in India working for farming community for giving innovative technologies for improving farm income. He said in India there are 20% growers and 80% consumers, so market strategy need to be designed to satisfy both the ends and to stable the economy.
Smt. Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament congratulated KVK Baramati for their innovative work and urged to prepare road map for marketing of farmers’ produce for getting better prices.
Dr. A.K. Singh, DDG (Agril Extension) said KVK Baramati is a role model for other KVKs in the country and all other KVKs should take initiative for their betterment.
The Fish Feed Meal Unit at Fishery Department was inaugurated by Smt. Supriya Sule, DG, ICAR and Shri Govind Bodke, Commissioner of Fisheries Maharashtra.
After the inauguration the dignitaries visited all 112 live demonstration plots, Apiculture Unit, Animal Exhibition, Fishery Unit, Centre of Excellence for Vegetables (an Indo-Dutch Project), Exhibition Stalls, Bhimthadi (SHG’s Stalls), Soil Testing Laboratory, Bio-control unit, Administration building, etc.
Dr. K. Vishwanatha, Vice Chancellor, MPKV, Rahuri; Shri Bhimrao Tapkir, MLA (Khadakwasla); Shri Baburao Pacharne, MLA (Haveli); Shri Dattatraya Bharne, MLA (Indapur); Shri. Rahul Kul, MLA (Daund); Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune; Dr. N.P. Singh, Director, ICAR-NIASM, Baramati; Shri Rajendra Pawar, Chairman, Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati were present on the occasion.
A video on 25 years journey of KVK Baramati, a book on ‘Accomplishment of KVK Baramati for serving the farming community’ and KRUSHIK Android mobile app was also released by the dignitaries.
Total 1551 farmers and guests were present during the Silver Jubilee Celebration as KVK Baramati while more than 8000 farmers had visited KRUSHIK exhibition.
