Shri Prakash Javadekar Reviewed the KVKs in Maharashtra

Shri Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development visited and reviewed the KVK,  Narayangaon (Pune) on 24th June 2018 and KVK, Babhaleshwar (Ahmednagar) on 23rd June 2018.

During his visit to KVK,  Narayangaon, he interacted with various SHGs and FPO members, facilitated by the KVK.He appreciated innovative ideas of farmers for doubling their profit and knew about protected cultivation, high value crops cultivation and convergence with SAU and state line departments. He urged to follow integrated farming system approach, using organic farm waste and solar energy.Shri Javadekaremphasised on using water saving techniques like drip irrigation, sprinkler system, mulching and protected cultivation. He urged the farmers to take benefit of improved crop insurance scheme. Bee keeping may be of prime importance.

 

About 200 farmers/entrepreneurs attended Farmers-Scientists Interface. At this occasion, Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director ATARI, Pune; Mr. Anil G. Meher, Chairman KVK Narayangaon, line department officials were present.

On 23rd June, 2018, the Minister visited the KVK, Babhaleshwar (Ahmednagar) and interacted with farmers, members of Farmers Clubs/FPOs/SHGs promoted by the KVK. He urged the farmers to adopt improved techniques like use of neem coated urea, use of microirrigation and other eco-friendly methods of pest and disease management. He said KVKsare bridge between farmers and researchers.

 

Later, Shri Javadekarvisited Community Radio Station and messaged farmers for adopting latest farm technologies, crop insurance, organic farming.

The programme was attended by Shri Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Leader of Opposition, Govt. of Maharashtra, Mrs Shalinitai Vikhe Patil, District President of Ahmednagar Zila Parishad, Dr Lakhan Singh Director ATARI Pune, and Director of Research, MPKV, Rahuri.

More than 600 farmers and farm women attended the program.
