Shri Narendra Singh Tomar virtually lays Foundation Stones of KVKs of ICAR-IISR, Lucknow and ICAR-CTRI, Rajahmundry

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare laid the Foundation Stones of two Krishi Vigyan Kendras at Lakhimpur Kheri (Uttar Pradesh) and Kandukur, Prakasam District (Andhra Pradesh) today.
The KVKs have been sanctioned as the second KVKs of the Districts.
In his address, the Union Minister highlighted the need of linking the farmers with the technology for accruing the benefits of farm researches being conducted at the various Institutions. Shri Tomar also urged the KVKs’ Scientists for organizing the FPOs in their areas to organize the farmers for enhancing their capacities. He advised them to be instrumental in delivering the Special Package Fund announced for infrastructural development of the various sectors of the agriculture by the Hon’ble Prime Minister.
Applauding the KVKs’ efforts located across the country in enhancing the farmers’ income, Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare urged the farmers to work for Atmanirbhar Bharat by organizing the FPOs.
Shri Surya Pratap Shahi, Minister of Agriculture, Agriculture Education and Agricultural Research, Government of Uttar Pradesh expressed his gratitude to the Hon’ble Prime Minister and Union Agriculture Minister for sanctioning the second KVK for Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Shahi emphasized that the farmers of Lakhimpur Kheri will be benefitted by the KVK established under the administrative control of the ICAR-IISR, Lucknow in the form of improved varieties with matching agro-technologies.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) hoped that the farmers’ income of the areas will also be doubled by following the integrated planning and strategy at the KVK level, using the ICAR-IISR Model of Doubling the Farmers’ Income.
Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director, ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh coordinated the programme.
Shri Ajay Mishra ‘Teni’, Member of Parliament, Lakhimpur Kheri and Shri Adala Prabhakara Reddy, Member of Parliament, Nellore were also present during the occasion.
Dr. Ashok Kumar Singh, Deputy Director General (Agricultural Extension), ICAR proposed the vote of thanks.
The senior officials of ICAR and its Institutes also participated in the virtual programme.
