Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmer's Welfare visited the ICAR-Directorate of Rapeseed-Mustard Research, Bharatpur today.
During his interaction with the farmers, the Minister stressed upon developing the climate resilient production and protection technologies including varieties in order to further increase the Rapeseed-mustard production and productivity in the country. Shri Choudhary highlighted the Government of India’s aim and vision to help the farmers to be self-sufficient and become loan providers instead of loan seekers.
He stressed upon adopting the integrated farming for making the agriculture more profitable and urged the farmers to become the job providers instead of job seekers.
Shri Choudhary applauded the Institute’s efforts in developing the location specific high yielding mustard varieties and production and protection technologies.
The Minister highlighted the various Central Governments’ farmers’ welfare schemes. He urged to resolve the challenges and problems being faced by the farming community in order to achieve the aim of doubling the farmers’ income by the Year - 2022. Shri Choudhary stressed upon the establishment of maximum numbers of FPOs.
Shri Choudhary also felicitated some progressive farmers for their innovations and inaugurated the Community Centre in the campus.
The Minister along with Smt. Ranjeeta Koli, Member of Parliament, Bharatpur and farmers took part in the plantation of 600 plants in the campus.
Earlier, Dr. P.K. Rai, Director, ICAR-DRMR, Bharatpur stated that about 250 location specific production and protection technologies including 197 high yielding rapeseed mustard varieties, have been developed by the Directorate and through AICRP on Rapeseed-Mustard.
