“There is a need of developing the protocols for complementing the MGNREGA activities in promoting Agroforestry Technologies in the rural areas. This would not only build the green cover in the country; but, also help in carbon sequestration”, stressed Shri Giriraj Singh, Union Minister of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj. Shri Singh was on his visit to the ICAR-National Academy of Agricultural Research Management, Hyderabad here today.
While interacting with the participants, he highlighted the importance of Agri-Business Management and value-addition for the Self-Help Groups and Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations.
The Union Minister also released the “Green Campus @ ICAR-NAARM - A Dossier” on the occasion.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. G. Narendra Kumar, I.A.S., Director General, National Institute for Rural Development & Panchayati Raj, Hyderabad expressed to have Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Academy in the areas of training the different stakeholders, especially, the Self Help Groups through a-IDEA Incubation Centre.
In his address, Dr. Ch. Srinivasa Rao, Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad underlined the Academy’s activities in capacity building and Think Tank role in ICAR. The various strategies for enhancing the security in food, fodder and timber sectors were also highlighted by Dr. Rao.
Earlier, Dr. G. Venkateshwarlu, Joint Director, ICAR-NAARM, Hyderabad welcomed the dignitaries.
