Odisha’s First Livestock Farmer Field School inaugurated

Padma Shri, Shri Batakrushna Sahoo inaugurated the “Livestock Farmer Field School” of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khordha, Bhubaneswar, Odisha today.

The Livestock Farmer Field School has been established for the first time in Odisha at the farm of Smt. Sumati Tripathy, Lead Farmer, Maa Santoshi Mahila Mandal of Danapada Village, Balipatna Block, Khordha, Odisha.

In his inaugural address, Shri Sahoo applauded the KVK’s efforts for helping the farmers of the Khordha District of Odisha in adopting the scientific livestock farming system. He also stated that the Field School inaugurated will go a long way in bridging the research-extension gap.

Dr. Saroj Kumar Swain, Director, ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha urged the farm women and farmers to take-up livestock farming. He also highlighted the popularity of the FFS Piloted by the Institute in the various parts of the country.

The farmers were distributed the implements for dairy farming during the occasion.

Around 200 farm women and farmers participated in the programme.
