National Webinar on “Nutritional Security in India: Issues and Way forward” organized

The ICAR-Research Complex for Eastern Region, Patna, Bihar organized a National Webinar on Nutritional Security in India: Issues and Way forward today.

In her address, the Chief Guest, Dr. Neelam Patel, Senior Advisor (Ag.), NITI Aayog, Government of India emphasized on the need for developing the value-chains for nutritional products. The need offor strong collaboration between the researchers and policy makers to formulate better policies and nationwide programmes to alleviate the nutritional imbalance in the society was also stressed in the Chief Guest’s address.

Dr. Ujjwal Kumar, Director, ICAR-RCER, Patna accentuated on developing the Biofortified varieties as a potential option for achieving the nutritional security in the country. He also urged for focusing the research projects on assessment and improvements in nutritional productivity of the different agricultural interventions and products.

The Webinar registered participation by a total of 175 participants including Scientists, State Department Officials, Heads of Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Students, NGOs and Academicians from Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Haryana, New Delhi, Sikkim, Maharashtra, Jammu and West Bengal.
