The “National Group Meeting on Kharif - 2022” of ICAR-All India Coordinated Research Project on Forage Crops and Utilization, Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh was organized at Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir from 13th to 14th June, 2022.
The Chief Guest, Dr. Tilak Raj Sharma, Deputy Director General (Crop Science), ICAR urged for the application of Bio-technological tools for developing the nutritionally rich and biofortified fodder varieties. Dr. Sharma also emphasized on enhancing the productivity of livestock by providing nutritious fodder.
In his address, Prof. (Dr.) Nazir Ahmed Ganai, Vice-Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology, Srinagar underlined the ways in which the women folks in the difficult areas of Kashmir conserve the forages for winters. The need of Forage Crops in the hilly areas of Kashmir was also highlighted by him.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. R.K. Singh, ADG (CC & FFC), ICAR stressed on developing the new technologies and their adoption in farms to augment the Forage resources in the country.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. Amaresh Chandra, Director, ICAR-IGFRI, Jhansi outlined the various initiatives taken by the Institute in developing the new technologies, especially, the fertile BN hybrid.
More than 140 participants from across the country attended the Meeting.
