Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khordha launches two Farmers’ Producers’ Companies (FPCs)

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Khordha, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture, Bhubaneswar, Odisha and the Promotion and Stabilisation of Farmers' Producers’ Organization (PSFPO) Project, Tanager, Bhubaneswar, Odisha jointly launched two Farmers’ Producers’ Companies (FPCs) “Divyalok” and “Sambalit” at Balipatna Block, Khordha District, Odisha today. The FPCs were inaugurated in commemoration to the International Women’s Day - 2021.

In inaugural address, Padma Shri, Sabaramatee, Sambhav Organization highlighted the role of organic farming in agriculture for income generation and health of the consumers.

Padma Shri, Batakrushna Sahoo applauded the forming of two more FPCs in the Khordha District in addition to the earlier FPO in Fisheries.

Dr. Saroj Kumar Swain, Director, ICAR-CIFA, Bhubaneswar, Odisha emphasized on the eco-friendly horticulture production in the region. He also urged the farmers for adopting the organic farming.

Earlier, in welcome address, Dr. Shiba Shankar Giri, Head, KVK, Khordha, Bhubaneswar, Odisha outlined the continuous support of the KVK in establishing the FPCs in Balipatna Block.

The several queries related to horticulture and agriculture were also addressed during the Farmers’-Scientists’-Interface held on the occasion.

The occasion registered a total participation by 300 farmers and farm women.
