Krishak Sangoshthi under FFP Project organized at Morena, Madhya Pradesh

Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare inaugurated the Krishak Sangoshthi organized at the Santha Village, Morena District, Madhya Pradesh through the video conferencing today. The Sangoshthi was organized under the Farmers’ First Programme Project.
Shri Tomar urged the farmers for making the Farmers’ Producers’ Organizations (FPOs) that can revolutionize the agricultural field of the country. The Minister expressed his concerns on the major irrigation water related problems, such as, majority of farmers in Chambal region use flood irrigation resulting in low yield, quality of produce, decreasing water table and soil health, etc. He also stressed for adapting the improve methods of irrigation through border strip, furrow, pressurized methods for improving the water productivity.
In his address, Prof. S.K. Rao, Vice-Chancellor, Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh emphasized to promote the integrated farming system, protected cultivation, vegetable production, processing and value-addition and agro-based enterprises for higher profits. Prof. Rao urged to develop the aggregation modules for the farmers on commodity and community-based group farming linked with the FPOs.
Prof. V.S. Tomar, Former Vice-Chancellor, RVSKV emphasized that the diversification of low value crop to high value crop can help to achieve the target of doubling the farmers’ income by 2020.
More than 2,000 farmers, rural youth, ARS trainees, senior officers, various dignitaries attended the programme.
