ICAR-NBAGR, Karnal confers Breed Conservation Awards - 2022

ICAR-National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal organized “Breed Conservation Award-2022” on “Kisan Diwas” and honoured various livestock keepers and organizations for conserving indigenous animal breeds across the country.

The Chief Guest, Dr. AK Srivastava, Vice-Chancellor, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Veterinary University, Mathura, said that native livestock breeds are country's heritage and their conservation by the stakeholders is well appreciated nowadays.

Dr. B N Tripathi, Deputy Director General (Animal Science) presided over the function and emphasized the need for such programs to promote native breeds in the country.

Dr B P Mishra, Director, ICAR-NBAGR said that Bureau is striving to conserve the indigenous livestock biodiversity by various means and honouring the stakeholders for breed conservation since 2017.

Dr. Dheer Singh, Director, ICAR-National Dairy Research Institute congratulated the winners of Breed Conservation Awards on this occasion.

A total of 85 applications were received for the Award under the Individual and Institutional categories across the country.

About 200 participants and delegates attended the program, organized in hybrid mode.
