The ICAR-Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lucknow arranged the Live telecast of “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi” and Kisan Mela.
While inaugurating the Mela, Shri Ram Naik, Hon’ble Governor, Uttar Pradesh outlined the scheme and briefed about 12 crores farmers that will be benefited by it. He remarked the day as a historic day for the farmers and agriculture. Shri Ram Naik stressed on the fact that even though after the increase in the agricultural production, the farmers’ income has not has not yet increased proportionately. He mentioned that now is the time for working to double up the income of ‘Annadata’.
He also informed about the permission of the central government for the production of Ethenol directly from the cane juice for increasing the sugarcane growers’ income and fulfilling the target of 10% ethenol blending with petrol.
The Guest of Honor, Dr. J.P. Nadda, Cabinet Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India briefed about the central government’s different agriculture development programmes. The Minister applauded the government’s initiatives to work on integrated development of agriculture in farmers for taking them to the centre stage.
The Cabinet Minister Power, Uttar Pradesh Government, Shri Shri Kant Sharma and Director, ICAR-ATARI, Kanpur, Dr. Atar Singh conferred the progressive farmers of Lucknow District with the certificates and prices during the occasion.
Earlier, Dr. A.D. Pathak, Director, ICAR-IISR, Lucknow welcomed the Hon’ble Governor and other Guests of Honour. Dr. Pathak highlighted the Institute’s various efforts initiated in the interest of farmers.
The “Man Ki Baat” Show of Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi was telecast during the occasion.
The farmers were provided with the information on improved sugarcane production technology during the technical session to increase their farm income.
The Indian Institute of Sugarcane Research and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lucknow along with the manufacturers of farm implements, insecticides, weedicides and seed producing agencies exhibited their products to the farmers. The Mela registered a total participation by 700 farmers.
A total of 11 farmers and 3 exhibition stalls were conferred with awards for the excellent work in agriculture sector.
The Heads of Division - Dr. M.R. Singh, Dr. A.K. Singh, Dr. Radha Jain, Dr. D.R. Malviya and Dr. V.P. Singh marked their presence during the programme.
Dr. Akhilesh Kumar Dubey, Senior Scientist and Head, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Lucknow delivered the Vote of Thanks.
