ICAR-Directorate of Weed Research, Jabalpur celebrated its 30th Foundation day today
Dr. P.D. Juyal, Vice Chancellor, Nanaji Deshmukh Veterinary Science University, Jabalpur graced the occasion as Chief guest, while Dr. G.R. Rao, Director, Tropical forest Research Institute, Jabalpur (Gov. of India) and Dr. P.K. Mishra, Dean Faculty, Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur graced occassion as Guest of Honour.
Dr. P.D. Juyal urged to work on integrated weed management. He appealed the farmers to make cooperative societies and to share with each other to gain maximum from the minimum resources.
Dr. G.R. Rao appealed the Directorate to work on the management of weeds in the forest to save the biodiversity and to increase the productivity of forest ecosystem. He urged to start collaborative project on forest weeds.
Dr. P.K. Mishra appriciated the work done by the Directorate on conservation agriculture and Parthenium and appealed the scientists to work on the current major challenges in weed management in agriculture.
Dr. P.K. Singh, Director, ICAR-DWR briefed about the work being done at the directorate on the management of weeds in different crops to double the income of farmers by 2022.
Three books, two extension folders and three video films were also released on the occasion
The programme was attended by large number of progressive farmers, students, Dean of Agril.Engg. Professor & Heads of various department of JNKVV, ex-employee and all the present employee of the Directorate.
