The ICAR-Directorate of Floricultural Research, Pune organized the “7th Research Advisory Committee (RAC) Meeting” from 26th to 27th December, 2019.
Dr. T. Janakiram, ADG (Horticultural Sciences), ICAR & Ex-Officio Member, RAC along with the other dignitaries provided their valuable inputs during the meeting.
The meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Padma Shri Dr. Brahma Singh, Former Director, Defence Research and Development Organization.
Dr. D.V.S. Raju, Member Secretary, RAC presented the Action Taken Report and project-wise achievements during the meeting.
Dr. K.V. Prasad, Director, ICAR-DFR outlined the ICAR-DFR’s major achievements during the last Year.
The dignitaries stressed on the importance of Floriculture in the country. They also opined the ways by which it can contribute its share in doubling the farmers’ income.
The committee appreciated the Institute’s initiative for minimizing the footprint of plastics by developing the biodegradable portrays and pots in association with the ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai. The team members urged for intensifying the evaluation of packaging technologies developed for its earlier adoption by the farmers.
The RAC reviewed the research conducted during the last Year and provided the inputs for strengthening the research at ICAR-DFR.
During the visit to farm, the committee members appreciated the ICAR-DFR’s developments and cherished the chrysanthemum collection in the field.
