The ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute, Kasaragod, Kerala celebrated its 104th Foundation Day today.
In his inaugural address, the Chief Guest, Dr. B.N.S. Murthy, Horticulture Commissioner, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare emphasized highlighted about the Institute’s achievement to be adjudged as number one to provide the world’s first hybrid in coconut to QR code labelled coconut seedlings. He accentuated on the Institute’s technologies, resources and services. Dr. Murthy also urged for ensuring the financial security to the coconut, Arecanut and cocoa farmers. He also inaugurated the Custom Hiring Centre of the Krishi Vigyan Kendra.
Dr. Anitha Karun, Director outlined the salient research findings and future thrust.
Dr. M. Gangadhara Nayak, Director, ICAR-Directorate of Cashew Research, Puttur and Dr. V. Ravi, Director, ICAR-Central Tuber Crops Research Institute, Thiruvananthapuram were also present during the occasion.
The Former Directors of the Institute - Dr. K.U.K. Nampoothiri, Dr. George V. Thomas and Dr. P. Chowdappa were felicitated on the occasion.
The occasion marked the releasing of the various publications along with the launching of two products namely - Kalpa Vermiwash and Kalpa Bean-to-Bite Chocolate.
The two Incubatees - The Panchamal Agro & Horticulture Farmer Producer Co. Ltd. (for production of coconut value added products) and Kudumbasree (for the marketing of ICAR-products) were scouted and exchanged the MoA.
The M/s Stone Hat Technologies, Coimbatore signed the MoA for the technology know-how to manufacture the coconut trimming machine.
