The ICAR-Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture, Chennai celebrated the National Productivity Week with the theme of ‘Circular Economy for Productivity & Sustainability” from 12th to 18th February - 2019.
In his presidential address, Dr. K.K. Vijayan, Director, CIBA urged the students and participants for imbibing the concept of circular economy and start new ventures in life. He also urged them to be the job providers rather than job seekers.
Earlier, Dr. K. Ambasankar, Nodal officer of the program welcomed the gathering. He also introduced highlighted the significance of National Productivity Week - 2019.
The group of fishermen were imparted with the hands-on-training on “Converting Fish Waste to Value Added Products” on 12th February - 2019.
The villagers were made familiar with the technology developed by the CIBA to transform the fish trimmings to high value produces.
The Extempore Elocution Competition on “Circular Economy” for the college students from the city followed by a lecture on “Circular Economy for Productivity and Sustainability” by Shri Mathew Jose, CEO, Paperman Foundation, Chennai was also organized by the organized by CIBA in collaboration with the SCAFi (Society of Coastal Aquaculture and Fisheries) on 13th February - 2019.
The occasion also held an Essay Competition on “Plastic in oceans and water bodies, impact and pathway to food chain” for the students.
