The Krishi Vigyan Kendra and Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) jointly organized a district level exhibition and Farmers’ Fair at the ICAR-Central Arid Zone Research Institute today.
In his inaugural address, Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Government of India accentuated the integrated agriculture’s role in doubling farmers’ income. He also urged the farmers to get benefited by the Government’s schemes. The Minister applauded scientists’ efforts in developing technologies and farmers for their adoption in the arid region.
Shri Mahendra Vishnoi, MLA, Luni, Jodhpur urged the farmers for crop diversification and adopting the advanced technologies in the field.
Dr. O.P. Yadav, Director, ICAR-CAZRI, Jodhpur underlined the role of technologies developed by institutes in improving livelihood of farmers of the arid region. It included water’s efficient use, agricultural diversification, farming system, value addition of agricultural products, use of improved planting material, use of solar energy in agriculture, etc.
The occasion also held Kisan Goshthi (Scientist- farmer interaction) that provided the solutions for issues in crop production, livestock, soil management, horticulture, water harvesting and pasture management etc.
The farmers’ visit to the experimental research farm of ICAR-CAZRI was also organized that included crop cafeteria, agri-voltaic system, horticulture block, fodder beet block, Napier grass block, dairy unit, etc.
The 3 organizations from public and private sectors were also adjudged to be the best for displaying their technologies.
The Directors of ICAR institutes, officers from state agricultural department, NGOs, etc., along with 2,100 farmers and farm women from different parts of Jodhpur district attended the programme.
