The Virtual 12th High Level Monitoring Committee (HLMC) Meeting of National Innovations in Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) Project was organized today.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) highlighted the recognition for NICRA project at the national and global level. He stressed on evolving the Institutional mechanism and strategies to expand the translation of NICRA research and demonstration outcomes / outputs particularly, with greater engagement with ministries / departments.
Shri Bimbadhar Pradhan, Special Secretary & Financial Advisor (DARE / ICAR) emphasized the importance of climate resilient agriculture for doubling the farmers’ income and its relevance to climate change.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary (DARE) & Secretary (ICAR) stressed that the project should address the problems faced by the farmers. Shri Singh also advised for documenting the project outcomes and sharing it with the stakeholders.
Dr. S. Bhaskar, ADG (AAF & CC), ICAR presented the ATR on the previous HLMC.
Dr. G. Ravindra Chary, Director, ICAR-Central Research Institute for Dryland Agriculture, Hyderabad outlined the overview of the NICRA.
The Deputy Directors General of ICAR and officials from various Ministries / Departments provided key inputs for the next phase of NICRA.
The major recommendations of the meeting were included for establishing linkages with other ministries and departments and focusing on the emerging challenges and research gaps.
