Global Farmers-Live Demos, Agriculture Exhibition and Conference organized

Shri Pasha Patel, Chairman, State Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices, Maharashtra inaugurated the “Global Farmers-Live Demos, Agriculture Exhibition and Conference” at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Narayangaon, Pune on 3rd January - 2019.

In his inaugural address, Shri Pasha Patel shared his concerns about the effects of climate changes on crops production. He also briefed about the development of new schemes by the government for potato, onion and tomato growers. He informed about the Indian Ambassadors’ roles in different countries for exploring export opportunities for the Indian Agriculture Produce which will help to increase the agricultural export from 30 million dollars to 100 million dollars in the near future.

Shri Sachindra Pratap Singh, Commissioner of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra congratulated the KVK for showing good example of convergence and developing a model KVK for effective capacity building and technology dissemination.

Shri Sharad Sonawane, MLA, Junnar opined on promotion of direct marketing by farmer to consumer. He said that it would help farmers to get good price to their produce.

Dr. Lakhan Singh, Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune underlined the need to attract and retain rural youth in agriculture, develop entrepreneurship, farming system nutrition, tap the un-noticed farmers’ innovations at the KVK. He also urged the farmers to be vigilant about incidence of insect-pest on crops, soil health and market avenues.

In his introductory speech, Krishiratna Shri Anil Meher, Chairman, Gramonnati Mandal, Narayangaon highlighted the various demonstration units created at the centre like technology cafeteria, backyard poultry, production & supply of urea briquette, bio-fertilizers, organic farming, drudgery reduction for farm women, etc.

The 190 exhibition stalls on different aspects put up by KVK, Department of Agriculture, ATMA, NHB, NABARD, RCF Ltd. FPOs, ICAR institutes, etc., registered a total footfall by around 6,000 farmers and other extension officials.

The exhibition will remain open from 3rd to 6th January - 2019.
