The two-day “First Annual Review Workshop” of the National Agricultural Higher Education Project incepted by the ICAR in the Year - 2017 was organized at the National Agricultural Science Centre, New Delhi today.
The Chief Guest, Shri Kailash Choudhary, Union Minister of State for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare stated that a comprehensive report of the works done in the past year, achievements and the prompt ways to deal with the future challenges of the Project, etc., would be discussed during the two-day Workshop.
The Minister stressed on publicizing the Project more that can help in doubling the farmers’ income He also applauded the efforts of ICAR’s officials, scientists and World Bank for the successful implementation of the Project.
Shri Choudhary also launched 6 Publications of the Project along with 2 Websites during the occasion.
Dr. Trilochan Mohapatra, Secretary (DARE) & DG (ICAR) underlined the role of ICAR’s various educational plans for the betterment of educational standards along with the main aim of the National Agricultural Higher Education Project, its inception and main achievements. The Director General also briefed about the layout of the two-day workshop.
Highlighting the importance of the World Bank in the success of the Project, the Director General urged for the effective utilization of the Project.
Shri Bimbadhar Pradhan, Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor (DARE/ICAR) applauded the financial support from the Government of India and the World Bank that has helped in the successful implementation of the Project having the value of Rs. 1,100 Crore by the ICAR in the Agricultural Universities of the country.
Edward W. Bresnyan, Representative, World Bank underlined benefits of the Project. He also highlighted the role of ICAR in the Project.
Dr. Prem Lal Gautam, Former Vice-Chancellor, G.B. Pant University of Agriculture & Technology, Pantnagar also shared his experiences during the occasion.
Dr. RC. Agrawal, National Director, NAHEP, ICAR proposed his vote of thanks.
The Senior Officials of different departments of ICAR along with Vice-Chancellors from various universities participated in the workshop.
